DESCRIPTION:We are very excited to present Maya: the Illusionist at Bord
 erLight Fringe Festival in Cleveland\, Ohio this year! BorderLight is a 
 hybrid festival featuring curated\, collaborative\, and self-produced fr
 inge programming from all genres of theatrical performance\, with the mi
 ssion of presenting visionary international theatre and building cross-c
 ultural understanding. We are truly honored to be a part of such a proje
 ct\, and to have a voice in this special cultural exchange.\n\nLearn mor

  the Illusionist is a good fit for this festival\, since it is experimen
 tal and thought-provoking in its theme\, music\, and choreography. The p
 roduction is an exploration of how the very same world can appear so dif
 ferently to different people\, imagining the nebulous force behind these
  manifold appearances as a character -- Maya.\n\nMaya is a major trope i
 n Hindu mythology\, frequently altering the course of events by changing
  the appearance of the world\, seemingly without any moral judgment or i
 ntent. Through a combination of dance\, poetry\, and storytelling\, we p
 resent universal scenarios in which this magical creator goes to work\, 
 and ask how her creations can take such firm hold of our experience. As 
 we continue to engage with people whose worldviews we cannot understand\
 , it is critical that we investigate the cause of these disparate realit
 ies\, to challenge ourselves to look for a universal reality under layer
